Just a friendly reminder that this week's meeting on Zoom is the Annual General Meeting. It's important for everyone to attend as there are a few items that we will be voting on. Myrna will also be introducing her board for next Rotary Year!
Last week we met at RavenWolf Brewing Co. for a vocational visit and lunch. It was fun to see everyone in person, enjoy a delicious lunch and to hear how they make their beer. Fun was had by all. Thanks Jan and Randal for having us.
You Can Ride 2 (YCR2) is hosting a number of events in March to have kids try bikes and take them home for the season! We would really appreciate your help in picking up the following volunteer shifts:
Note: If you have a child registered in the program and have not received an appointment invitation for one of these events yet, don't worry! We are working hard to schedule appointments for both March and April and will reach out to you soon!
Note: Volunteers who sign up for both AM+PM shifts will be provided with a free lunch (a $10 gift card to a restaurant of choice). Families who volunteer will have $75 refunded per shift completed (up to a maximum of their total Rental Fee - $75 Seasonal, $150 Annual). You can have someone volunteer on your behalf! Please contact josh@youcanride2.ca ahead of time to let us know if you would like to choose this option.
We appreciate your time as the YCR2 program would not be able to run without the help of its amazing volunteers!
Please contact Josh (josh@youcanride2.ca) if you have any questions. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
The district conference is offering a "better together" group registration rate if five or more people register together in a group. Please let Brad know if you're interested in attending by filling out this short form and he'll coordinate the group registration. Hotel details are forthcoming for those of you wishing to stay at the Fantasyland Hotel where the conference is being held. If you have never been to a Rotary district conference or are the most recent Chris Gerritse Award winner (Rotarian of the Year), you are eligible for your conference registration and up to $200 of travel and accommodation costs to be reimbursed!
Change Health Alberta is a registered non-profit and charity that focuses on advancing health through the key pillars of physical activity, nutrition and social connection. These areas are co-designed with community for community to honour the unique land, relationships and regional assets across Alberta. Since its inception, CHANGE Health Alberta has worked to build the community and offer meaningful learning experiences. This year, our organization has invested in the creation of the CHANGE Centre which enables us to focus on more live events that bring the community together.
What?
Tipi Teachings is a partnership with our friends from Treaties 6, 7, and 8 who have been invited by CHANGE Health to share their story and create space for you to share your story. You are being invited to create authentic social connections, explore new stories and experience the land. Each date offers a new experience where you might bring your own questions and form new friendships or perhaps, discover that we are all truly related in some way. The goal of this is to protect our mental, emotional and physical health by deepening community and honouring the land.
Where?
The Change Centre is located in Magnolia, Alberta along the Pembina River at 54404 Range Road 65. These events, including stew and bannock, are held primarily outside. The teachings are held inside of a warmed tipi. All guests are welcome to bring activewear and enjoy the 15km of trails before or after the formal teachings. Physical abilities will be accommodated.
