At our club's annual fundraiser — Lobsterfest — we will be raising funds for many causes that we support.
One of those that we will be focusing on at Lobsterfest this year is You Can Ride 2.

Below: Melanie Harris (left), a physical therapist at Broxton Park School who volunteers with You Can Ride 2, presented to our club on the organization and its work in finding suitable re-engineered bikes for children with disabilities. Harris was welcomed at our April 30 meeting by Rotarian Barry Twynam.

You Can Ride 2 adapts bicycles to allow for special needs children — many of whom can't walk — to ride a bike just like their peers.
They also have a Learn to Ride program that teaches kids with disabilities how to ride. Those kids range in ages from eight to 18 and allows parents to drop their kids off and take some time for themselves.
Most of the costs for You Can Ride 2 are equipment — an adapted bike can cost in the range of $3,600.
Thanks to grant funding and a considerable amount of sponsorship, You Can Ride 2 has developed a bike loan pool of more than 100 bikes in 30 different styles.
Families can get one of these bikes for their child with just a $100 deposit and $50 fee for the summer, but there are volunteer opportunities for the parents if they would like to waive the fee.
It's an amazing organization and our club is proud to raise funds in its name.
